Meet Emily!
Emily is our in-house paediatric physiotherapist here at Aevum Kids! Emily knew that she wanted to work with children before she even knew she wanted to be a physiotherapist. She commenced taking dance classes as a toddler and was a keen ballerina throughout her childhood, suffering a few injuries and needing to see a physiotherapist which stemmed her interest in physiotherapy. As a teenager, she also assistant taught dance classes, some of which included children with special needs. Teaching movement to children and watching them develop new skills become one of Emily’s passions.
During her physiotherapy degree, Emily completed clinical placements with Cerebral Palsy Alliance and in a paediatric private practice to further specialise her training. She has worked at Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick and within the paediatric physiotherapy world in the community.
What to Expect in your First Session
An initial appointment is usually one hour long, which gives both Emily and your little one enough time to get to know each other. The session takes place within the Aevum Kids gym, with age and developmentally appropriate toys and games to assist your child in settling in to our gym space.
Before engaging in a thorough assessment through play and activities, Emily will ask questions to gain a better idea of your concerns and your child’s history. At the end of the session, a home exercise program, including some activities to try with your child at home, may be provided.
If you have any medical reports or documentation that you feel may be relevant, please feel feel to bring them along to your first session with Emily!
Do I Need a Referral to Make an Appointment with Emily?
No, a referral is not required for Aevum Kids appointments!
If a medical professional has suggested a physiotherapy review, a referral letter is still not required. However, if provided a referral, please pass it on so we can better understand your health care provider’s concerns.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding your child’s motor milestones, physical development or pain; please get in touch with us at info@aevumhealth.com.au or 02 8544 3231 to schedule an appointment.
