Rebuilding movement, attention and confidence.
Traumatic and acquired brain injury affects far more than strength. Balance, coordination, attention, processing speed and fatigue all interact, and a program that treats only the physical side tends to stall. Our NeuroHub work is built to train movement and cognition together, because that is how they are used.
Assessment that accounts for cognition
We assess movement, balance, gait and coordination — but also how those hold up when attention is divided. Walking while talking, changing direction on cue, or reacting to something unexpected are where difficulties usually surface after brain injury, and where testing in a quiet room misses them.
That gives us a baseline that reflects real environments rather than ideal ones.
Dual-task and reactive training
The Motek C-Mill VR is well suited to brain injury rehabilitation because it combines walking with cognitive demand: projected targets, obstacles that appear without warning, and tasks that force attention to split. That is a close match for crossing a road or moving through a shopping centre.
The harness means reactive balance can be trained properly — pushing to the point of genuine loss of balance and recovery, which is where the adaptation happens and which is unsafe to do unsupported.
Fatigue and load management
Post-injury fatigue is a major limiter and is easy to underestimate. Sessions are structured with deliberate rest, and program volume rises slowly with attention to how the following days go.
Where headaches, dizziness or visual disturbance are part of the picture, we adjust and coordinate with the relevant specialists.
Return to work, study and sport
Goals differ enormously — returning to a trade, back to study, back to driving, or back onto the field. Programs are built backwards from that goal, and our occupational therapists handle the daily-living and workplace side alongside the physical work.
Where an insurer, support coordinator or plan manager is involved, we provide the reporting they need.

Frequently asked questions
Common questions.
What is the difference between traumatic and acquired brain injury?
Traumatic brain injury results from external force — a fall, crash or blow to the head. Acquired brain injury is the broader term, also covering stroke, hypoxia, infection and tumour. Rehabilitation principles overlap substantially.
How long does brain injury rehabilitation take?
It varies widely with severity and goals. Recovery continues over months and years rather than weeks, and programs typically run in blocks with reassessment rather than as one continuous course.
Can you help with balance problems and dizziness?
Yes. Balance and dizziness after brain injury have several possible causes, including vestibular involvement. We assess to identify the driver and treat accordingly, referring on where medical input is needed.
Is brain injury rehab covered by NDIS or insurance?
Both routes are common. We are a registered NDIS provider, and also work with CTP (motor accident) and workers compensation insurers where the injury is compensable.
Do you treat concussion?
Yes, including persistent symptoms after concussion where recovery has not followed the expected course — typically involving graded exertion, vestibular and cervical assessment, and a staged return to activity.
